Welcome to Pinner Local

Pinner Local  ......Pinner on the web on Twitter serves the people of Pinner, Pinner Green, Cannon Lane, Hatch End and visitors to the surrounding area in the Borough of Harrow, London, England, providing information, news, events and maps. Business marketing & Social Media support.

The Chairman of the Pinner and Northwood Business Club, Les Conway, is being thrown in prison next month.

However, his time ‘inside’ is all for a worthy cause as it is part of St Luke’s Hospice  Jail and Bail 2016 which is taking place at Pinner Police Station on Bridge Street on March 11th.

The fundraiser sees well known local people thrown in jail and only released when bail of £1000 is raised.

Previous prisoners include former Mayors of Harrow as well as councillors, religious leaders and other popular community figures.

Les said: “I can categorically say this will be my first time in a prison cell and I’m hoping my last!

“Joking aside it’s for a fabulous cause and I’m glad that I am taking part on behalf of the Pinner and Northwood Business Club. I’m hoping my friends in the community will dig deep and get me out of there as fast possible.”

St Luke's Hospice is based in Kenton and cares for people across Harrow and Brent whose illnesses are no longer curable.

Its aim is to add life to days, even though days can't be added to life.

Agent’s Efforts Benefit Cancer Charity
An estate agent who has worked in Pinner for over 18 years has made a resolution to raise a four figure sum for charity this year.

Adam Stimpson, who is the Sales Manager of Gibbs Gillespie in the High Street, has set a goal of more than £1000 for Cancer Research UK by the end of 2016.

Adam, who lives in Northwood, explained the motivation behind his charitable commitment.

He said: “Someone close to me has a family member with cancer and I can see firsthand the effects it has on everybody involved. So I decided I wanted to do something which helps sufferers and Cancer Research UK certainly does that.

“On Sunday January 31 I ran the London Winter Run 10K. I’ve been training hard during the cold winter mornings and was delighted to run a personal best of 52 minutes and 27 seconds.”

The run started in Trafalgar Square and took in some of the capital’s greatest landmarks including St Paul’s Cathedral.

Last year Adam took part in a London to Brighton bike ride for charity. It was this event that inspired him to commit to raising more during 2016.

He added: “Having completed the 10K run I’m planning another couple of bike rides to get me past my fund raising target.
“It’s a great way to stay motivated to keep fit and help others at the same time.”

New Buy a Brick Campaign launched
Brand new ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign launched for the Heath Robinson Museum development. Your chance to participate....
LEGO and the new museum
Can we build it? Yes, we can!
Brick by brick the William Heath Robinson Museum is being built and is due to open very soon now - mid Summer 2016. Trustees are pleased to announce that, as a gesture of support, LEGO has donated a large box of LEGO bricks for the museum. Creativity and building will be by-words for the museum; getting children involved in practical hands-on activities are at the forefront of what the museum will be all about.
Claire Linge, Learning Officer for the new Museum says “We are very grateful to LEGO for their kind donation. It will help enliven our future workshops with children – and maybe adults.  It will help bring architecture to life and foster children’s imagination. Our thanks to LEGO for making us such a practical gift”.
Danny Cazzato, one of the People’s Choices at the Secret Art Sale last year and husband of Delia Cazzato, one of the William Heath Robinson Museum volunteers, works at LEGO and put forward the idea that there is a very real link between the aims of LEGO and that of the new Museum. Danny said
“The recently launched “Buy a Brick” campaign aimed at raising funds to complete the museum has a focus on the need for “bricks” of every sort. We at LEGO are delighted to contribute to the effort by providing a LOT of bricks for the younger audience who come to the Museum workshops, to add to their enjoyment”.
