On Your Bike!

GET ON YOUR BIKE AND PUT YOUR PEDAL POWER TO THE TEST IN AID OF THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR OF MICHAEL SOBELL HOSPICE
With spring fast-approaching, why not put your pedal power to the test, don your lycra and get in training for the Michael Sobell Hospice (MSH) ‘On Your Bike’ annual cycling challenge, which this year sees a 40-mile route in celebration of 40 years of the Northwood-based hospice.
The epic (yet fun) biking challenge will take place on Sunday 14th May, with registration opening at 7.30am on the day, located in the MSH Lecture Hall, based on the Mount Vernon Hospital site. The new 40-mile cycle route offers lovers of two wheels, a challenging course within the local beautiful countryside, and will include scenic country lanes towards Amersham, Bovingdon and Hemel Hempstead.
Commenting on the event, Michael Sobell Hospice Charity (MSHC) PR & Marketing Manager, Sam Heggie said: “Our special 40-mile anniversary route is a must-do for any cycling enthusiast, who is looking for a bit of a challenge this year. The course will be clearly signposted, and thanks to our fantastic volunteer marshals, who help line the route, all entrants will be directed along the way. There will also be two water stops – a welcome break for our challengers to help keep energy levels up and spirits high!”
If you would like to sign up, an early bird offer price of £20pp on teams of six or more is available on registration until the end of February. Thereafter, entry will be £25pp for adults (on sign ups before Friday 15th April) and £30 thereafter, or on the day. Entry for children (aged 11-16) is £10.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Sam added: “This is a wonderful event, which has been running for a number of years now, and we always receive great feedback from those who take part. We’re hoping that in our very poignant 40th anniversary year, we’ll see some old familiar faces, but also many new ones, in what promises to be a thrilling event for a worthy local cause. Don’t forget to please try and raise as much sponsorship as you can, and this will make a big difference to the total monies raised from this event.”
All proceeds will support the specialist palliative care services, provided round-the-clock at Michael Sobell Hospice.  For further information, details of the route and registration, please visit www.michaelsobellhospice.co.uk or call the Events Team on 020 3826 2367.
