I’m very lucky to be able to do work that I love, in
fact it's not work it’s my life!
My work includes singing, acting, writing plays and
blogging. Primarily I am a classically trained singer, so I sing at funeral and
wedding services a mixture of scared and contemporary music, as well as at
concerts
and events, Most recently I sung at Heathrow Classic Car Show with
pianist Errol Hui, a range of musical theatre and classical music. Acting wise
I’m just about to head up to Edinburgh Fringe to perform in the play
Shakespeare Tonight, by Paul Wilson and Tim Ferguson, directed by David Parry,
which is hugely exciting, as it‘s my first time performing at the festival. In
terms of my own plays, my comedy play R(ex)ception will be at Clapham Fringe in
October, directed by Adam Morley and two of my female centered monologues are being recorded as audio dramas
by Theatrefullstop. My blog Frantastic View, contains theatre news and
inspiring articles for fellow creative's.
Life isn’t all glamorous being a freelancer, but it’s
very exciting, every week is different
which I absolutely adore. This career is definitely not 9-5, in fact
there are no set hours and a lot of preparation goes in to rehearsing music,
text and editing to get your work, just
the way you want it and more importantly, how an audience wants it. You have to
think outside the box and definitely not have a fixed timetable, as always
expect the unexpected!
There are also times when you are sitting and having
to devise ideas, to make opportunities happen, while eating your marmite
crumpet on your sofa! Sometimes the best ideas especially for plays come to me
during the night, whether it be comedy or more dramatic. My advice is always
have something whether your notes section of your phone or ipad, or just a good
old fashioned pen and paper, in case you are feeling inspired, with an idea for
a new creative project.
With my new regular feature I want to inspire with my
articles and show what it’s really like being a performer and writer! My
articles will be honest, relatable and fun. So my inner thoughts on life and
the industry and my recommendations of entertainment in the greatest city in
the world..London!
I look forward to writing again for you soon!
