Pinner & District Business Club Visit by Mayor of Harrow The club hosted the Mayor of Harrow Councillor Jean Lammiman and her consort at their monthly meeting on the 30 April 2008, which was held in the excellent facilities available in Evans Easyspace in Pinner. The food was provided by Friend's restaurant. The club made a donation to the Mayor's chosen charity "Teenage Cancer Trust" and added to it the money raised at the meeting by a raffle.
Extract from Report of The Pinner Association AGM “All in an April Evening”. The Pinner Association conducted its AGM. on 23 April 2008. Anthony Wood Chairman of the Harrow Public Transport Users Association spoke with impressive authority on the topic of “Public Transport in and around Pinner and Harrow” he explained the long and sorry saga of the Pinner Station lifts, numerous delays, caused by a combination of engineering and financial calamities, not now due to be in use until August 2008 at the earliest! The Croxley Rail Link plans to extend the line were being developed.
A lively “Open Forum” session followed. Cllrs. Chris Mote (Pinner Ward) and John Nickolay (Pinner South Ward), and Sgts. Steve Whitehead (Pinner SNT) and James Bishop (Pinner South SNT), who attended with their teams, assisted Pinner Association Chairman James Kincaid and his committee members in answering the questions from the floor. Matters of concern were raised from representatives of the “Save our Pinner Gardens” (SPAG) campaign, who are fighting proposals to demolish sound houses and build several new houses on the large gardens, and from those opposing development in Nower Hill, and on the topics of the threat to local wildlife by current and future developments, and the pollution of the River Pinn by diesel oil in the Lloyd Court area. Sgt. Whitehead was informed the meeting that Harrow Council was to replace the vandalised wooden fence along the Uxbridge Road boundary of Montesole Playing Field with metal railings. Cllr Nickolay gave the good news of a scheme to stop the dangerous parking on each side of the railway bridge on West End Lane. James Bond asked the meeting to support the local campaign against the proposal to close many local Station tickets offices (see www.3449sayno.com ).

Fund Raising Event in aid of Harrow Mayor's Charity Teenage Cancer Trust held at Evans Easyspace The Mayor of Harrow Councillor Jean Lammiman attended a fund raising event held in Evans Easyspace offices in Pinner on the 16 April. The event was well attended by representatives of the Local Community and Business Leaders in Pinner. An auction and raffle were held with all the proceeds going to The Mayor’s chosen charity "Teenage Cancer Trust". An excellent evening hosted by Evans Easyspace (superbly organised by the Centre Manager, Joanna Haslock) which was enjoyed by all attending and raised over £2200 for the charity.

The Treasury Pearl Excitement Mounts It is an exciting time at The Treasury jewellery shop in Barters Walk. Sylvia has visited Hong Kong for the world's greatest pearl trade fair.
