"For the first time a selection of Pinner Sketch Club artists are exhibiting at an event “PINNER SKETCH CLUB - ART IN THE VILLAGE” which will feature paintings in 25 Pinner Village Shops, in the High Street and Bridge Street. Barbara Gomez Del Olmo and last's years competiton winner Lorraine Edwards are seen here outside estate agents Baker Pierce promoting the exhibition. The event will add to the vibrancy and charm of Pinner Village and shoppers and visitors will enjoy the opportunity to see work by some very talented local artists. We look forward to lots of Harrow residents coming to have a look at some exciting shop windows and strolling in Pinner Village on balmy summer days and evenings! And hopefully there will also be interest for new and established artists to join the club!" Displays will run for 4 weeks from Friday August 6th until the end of the Pinner Sketch Club Summer Exhibition. The exhibition runs from 21st August until 4th September at Pinner parish church hall. Local Student wins "Our Space" competition
In July Mala Mawkin entered the “our space” competition to go to the Johnson and Kennedy NASA space centres in America. The competition required her to use the astronaut Richard Garriott’s mission as a springboard to her own imaginative space adventure. She chose to produce a short video about future space travel. Mala researched about future technological ideas in space travel although this was hard as many of these were merely concepts. She finally chose an idea that related to Lorentz’s force. It said that if spacecrafts in the future were to emit charged particles they could be deflected in a planets magnetic field and travel through space. Mala was invited to the Farnborough Air Show where the results were announced. Much to her surprise she had won the competition of which her prize was a trip to an American space camp and the opportunity to show my video to the House of Commons in December....More to follow
