Pinner Sketch Club - Artist of the week 9 April Veronica Lansman

Pinner Sketch Club - Artist of the week 9 April
Veronica Lansman started painting late in life after she retired.  In her working life, she had created Computer Based Training Modules, which had required her to draw and design screens. She even had a cover printed on the front of 'Training and Development' magazine.  In spite of this, she hadn’t realized that she had actually been producing art.
Veronica attended art classes at the Harrow Arts Centre and afterwards in Hatch End and was accepted as a Member of Pinner Sketch Club.  The Club and the classes have been very important in her development. She finds the members warm and inclusive and enjoys constructive criticism from teachers and other artists.
It took Veronica a while to realize that she had a certain style, which needed nurturing. Strong colour is her preference with an accent on design. She paints mainly in acrylics sometimes adding tissue paper, even plastic or card for texture.  She may overlay her painting with pastel crayons or pencils.
Veronica enjoys interpreting topics in her own way. Many sketches and photographs are produced as the work progresses so that Veronica can experiment with alterations on the computer without committing immediately on canvas.
Beautiful objects, flowers and scenes provide the source for her paintings.  Often they are items, even a china ornament, that evoke memories or attachments to people or places.
Below are some examples of Veronica's work. To find out more about her artwork, visit: http://artbyvero.co.uk/
