I was invited by host Jessica Summer to join the evening. Jessica a qualified Wine and Cheese expert & Gustavo the speaker is an Archeval Ferrer winemaker based in Mendoza, Argentina. He introduced us to their own wine specialities from that region. Jessica is not only knowledgeable about wine but also about the cheeses that go well with particular varieties of wine.
It was a very well attended event with a Full House. The evening started with a tasting of a number of Quimerino wines both white and red accompanied by a variety of cheeses that Jessica had chosen to complement each wine.
Gustavo explained in detail how each wine was created and the experimentation that has gone into a number of the wines tasted. Jessica then emphasised how by taking a cheese in conjunction with the wine, it helps the flavour to be further enhanced.
The wines and cheeses were as follows
Wines Cheeses
Quimerino Blanco 2023 Wild Garlic Yarg
Quimera Blanco 2022 Chedder Gorge
Quimerino Tinto 2023 Sparkenhoe Red Leicester
Mendoza Malbec 2022 Affineur Walo Red Wine Farmer
Quimera Tinto 2021 Colston Basset Stilton
Fincas Bella Vista 2019
When the tasting had concluded Gustavo had to make his way back to central London for onward travel to Sweden where he is going to give further talks. It was a very convivial evening and I recommend cheese and wine lovers to look out for further Wine Maker events. Plus pop in to the very welcoming Mouse and grape store to find just that right wine and Cheese Pairing
