Heath Robinson Museum Reopens
The Heath Robinson Museum, in Pinner Memorial Park,  is reopening for visitors on Thursday, 20 August.  The trustees and staff have worked hard to ensure that the Museum meets all the Covid safety requirements, including a one-way system round the Museum.  Visitors are asked to book timed tickets online at www.heathrobinsonmuseum.org so social distancing can be maintained, and to observe the Government requirement to wear face-coverings.

Initially the Museum will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.  .

As well as the permanent exhibition showing the life and work of Heath Robinson, visitors may enjoy the current special exhibition - ‘Charles Keeping: Londoner & Illustrator’.  Charles Keeping, who died in 1988, is one of the most influential of modern British book illustrators. This exhibition celebrates his life and work.

Charles Keeping was a Londoner through and through, and his childhood in Lambeth provided him with an endlessly rich stock of images to draw on throughout his working life. But his vision was universal, individual and often disturbing. It has been argued that the strength and honesty of everything he undertook changed the face of British children’s book illustration. His work was highly original and often had a strong element of the macabre. The exhibition confirms Charles Keeping’s stature and contribution not just as a major picture-book artist but also as a revelatory illustrator of Dickens for the Folio Society. He was one of the true greats, and an exhibition to honour him is long overdue.
