Right at Home Harrow - Profile
News reporter Eleanor Clavin finds out more about local Care provider Right at Home Harrow interviewing Director Ruth Solomons.

'With glowing testimonials and numerous awards, Right At Home has gained an outstanding reputation and for good reason. The Harrow branch has been offering high quality care to the local community since 2014 and has continued to do so despite added pressure from the coronavirus pandemic.

After leaving her longstanding management and teaching role in secondary education, Ruth Solomons, Director of the Harrow branch, felt compelled to continue work that felt “worthwhile and fulfilling”. She noted that there was a high demand for quality care in the local area thus leading her to form Right at Home Harrow in June 2014.

Currently caring for around 75 clients, the company has become an asset to the community by supporting families who rely on carers to look after their loved ones. Right At Home has the ability to care for any individual over the age of 18 with services including hourly day and night care as well as live in care covering a range of specialist needs such dementia.

By having carers and clients fill out a profile form, their personality and individual needs are carefully matched to create a perfectly tailored care system. Ruth says that this ensures that clients trust their carer and build a positive relationship with them. “99% of the time, this process leaves clients satisfied with their carer and if clients are not satisfied for whatever reason, we are always happy to match an alternative carer”.

Additionally, unlike other care providers, Right at Home has a usual minimum hour care slot to help build a relationship with clients and to provide adequate time for their needs. The aim of care is to keep individuals out of hospital and create a more personalised service. It can be overwhelming and confusing to be cared for in a hospital environment and numerous studies have shown that at-home care can have a greater positive impact on wellbeing due to a reduction in stress. The existence of companies like Right at Home ensures that people are able to maintain a sense of independence and live their lives to the fullest in a safe and familiar environment.

Right at Home continued to offer quality care throughout the pandemic. Ruth Solomons attributes this to a well organised National Office.  “We are lucky to have a supportive National Office who sourced high quality PPE at the beginning of the pandemic”. Additionally, Right at Home carers undergo rigorous infection control training to maintain the safety of their clients and minimise the spread of the virus. Ruth assures that the company goes above and beyond public health requirements, monitoring clients closely and ensuring the safety of those under their care is always their first priority.

This has led to Right at Home gaining numerous five star reviews. “My carer is kind and understanding, helping me so much with her gentle and thoughtful treatment. We quickly became friends,” one client recently commented. With attentive carers, high standards and perfectly tailored care, it is no surprise that Right at Home has remained one of the leading care providers in Harrow and will continue to offer essential support to families with a range of care needs.'
