Artist of the week 2 April - Marty Berg

Marty has been painting since he was a teenager and has an Art Degree which he used for many years as a Graphic Designer making catalogues in both Los Angeles and England. Painting has always been his hobby and he has exhibited with several art societies.

Marty has been keeping busy over lockdown since March 2020, painting 1-2 a week as a way to express his vivid imagination and love of colour. In October of 2020, Marty had 4 paintings exhibited in Mary’s Living & Giving shop window on Pinner High St. which all sold to one man and a commission was given to Save the Children. He has an Instagram account which he posts to twice a week with over 1250 followers: @mmberg40

The paintings featured below are painted using acrylic on 12x16'' canvas and are fantasy, mystery and whimsical based. The paintings are inspired by Marty's travel photos and other inspirational art, often featuring birds or animals.

Tropical Shores, No. 107A: A fantasy.  There is a distant fisherman in the boat, birds and the Crane on the rock.

Boats Ahoy, No.103A: Fantasy inspired by old masters paintings.
The two boats are racing to the shore and could collide if one pulls back. The Man & Dog await to help unload, while the Lady & Child wait for the husband, while the Seagull just watches.

The Old Bridge, No.105A: Inspired by an old drawing of Shrewsbury Bridge with Marty's own rendition.

The Island, 96A framed Board:  Inspired by one of his photos from Newquay, Cornwall.  Marty has added the flying Whale, Lighthouse and changed the houses, as many years ago they were Tea Rooms reached by the foot bridge.
