Heathfield School for Girls in Pinner is delighted to announce this year’s Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Award programme for our Lower Sixth Formers (Year 12s).   ILM qualifications are widely respected within the world of work and Heathfield holds a unique position in being able to offer this training.  Heathfield’s Sixth Form Centre – the Pinner Leadership Centre – is the first school organisation to be accredited as an ILM Centre in this country.  This unique accreditation was achieved with the help of Heathfield’s training provider School Dynamics, the Pinner and Northwood-based education-business partnership, whose team has been delivering student leadership and teamwork training to Heathfield for the past four years as part of the summer term’s Leadership Challenge Week.

All Heathfield’s Year 12 girls now have the opportunity to enter for the ILM Level 2 Award in Effective Team Member Skills.  This Award course covers all aspects of teamwork and leadership, examining how disparate groups can become the highest performing teams. With a mix of theory, group discussions and entertaining and challenging team-building activities, the girls learn about how teams are formed and explore the different stages teams go through in developing a strong teamworking ethos.  The course also looks at the need for teams to have a sense of vision and purpose and the role that effective communication, motivation and individual and team development play in enabling this to happen.
