THe Attic Studio above Lines shop in the High Street Pinner has a final retrospective exhibition of original watercolours titled "A Murmuration of Starlings" by Sydney William Starling MBE.
The artist was born in Kinver Staffordshire in 1889 and died in 1984.He became a draughtsman designer of decorative tiles in 1911 and exhibited watercolour paintings at the Royal society of Artists, Birmingham 1929-33.. He lived in Pinner from 1931 and he continued to paint and joined with artist friends R White and, J R Robinson and Fred Pettifer forming the Pinner Sketch Club in 1942 which currently thrives with 110 members.
Starlings work gradually loosened in style into a fashioable Post Impressionist manner.
