Wow has it been 5 years already at Eyesey Eyecare
The prevalence of myopia (short-sightedness) is on the increase, fuelled as much of the research shows, by increased close work. The potential visual difficulties that short-sightedness can cause is astounding, and until recently has had limited publicity outside the field of Optometry. So, we have started to work with our children to reduce the progression of myopia from a young age and hopefully in this way help contribute towards a better quality of life in the future.
Children are the future, so myopia control is only one of the things we do. We specialise in dyslexia and other reading difficulties, and have seen some amazing results over time.
For adults, we have the OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomography) and digital camera. This incredible piece of technology can pick up conditions like glaucoma, diabetes and age-related macular degeneration much earlier. The earlier these conditions are diagnosed, the better the prognosis. For those with a family history of these conditions, having this annual assessment can be invaluable.
3 years ago, we joined forces with Alfred Jay Opticians, in Edmonton Green. The patient base in this part of London is very different from that of Pinner, so the knowledge sharing has been immense and of course, extremely valuable to both practices.
As a small business, we value the importance of supporting other local businesses and actively take part in local events, the most notable being the annual Pinner Pantomime – an evening of fun and laughter, dressing up and window displays!
We are at the top end of Bridge Street, so you wouldn’t necessarily walk past us on when out and about in Pinner, but a visit is certainly well worth the detour.
As the theme song for the TV show “Cheers” says “Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same, you wanna be where everybody knows your name”.
