Most patients being treated had complaints that were either too complicated or untreatable by conventional medicine. The patients were amazed to find an alternative cure. Here are some of the successful cases worth mentioning that were treated in 2011:

1. Glandular fever syndrome.
The majority of people recover from glandular fever rather quickly; however, some may suffer from repeated attacks by this virus.  Due to damage to the organs like the spleen, liver and the immunity, many people end up with chronic fatigue and muscle dysfunction. Among three cases we treated in 2011, one had constant low fever, indigestion, body pain and repeated eruption of a sore throat. The second patient didn’t have those complications but suffered regular headache and physical exhaustion. The third patient was very lucky that her blood had been cleared of the Epstein-Barr virus thanks to the antivirus tablets, but the nerve and muscular functions deteriorated so quickly that she lost the ability to walk. As modern medicine couldn’t do anything more, acupuncture combined with herbal therapy at our clinic, has helped them to make remarkable improvements. Two of them have gone back to work, the third patient is able to walk and drive by herself.

2. Swollen and enlarged tongue.
As result of toxic or infection, the patient developed an inflamed tongue enlarging full of the mouth, which was shown on TV Channel-4 “Embarrassing Disease”. The treatment to it is to take low dosage antibiotics for a few months as one course. Its side effect is unimaginable. Our experience was to use sterilized acupuncture needles to take out blood from the veins on the back of the tongue. It was so simple that the size of the tongue reduced in just a couple of sessions. Having said that, any doctor who wants to conduct this treatment must be very skilled in stopping the veins from bleeding too much and for too long.

3. Multiple adhesions pain.
Millions people in the world suffer from adhesion after operations. Sometimes the pain is so severe that the patients have to keep on increasing the dosage of painkillers such as morphine. They cannot go back to work and also lose their normal personal and family life. The worst cases we treated in London were two ladies who had suffered adhesion pain for more than 10 years after 7-8 times of operations. Both patients were cleared of pain after just 6-10 sessions of acupuncture.

4. Phantom nerve pain.
This causes a strange and very uncomfortable feeling involving both physical and psychological changes. The patient may have suffered from trauma, stress, operation or surgical amputation. Our clinical experience shows that acupuncture is more effective than medicine in treating this disease. The success rate is high and proven.

5. Sensory disturbance.
Two of my patients lost their feeling respectively on upper body and left side of the body for 6-11 months after car accidents. They also complained of having numbness, pins and needles in their extremities. GP Doctors couldn’t do more to help them other than just prescribing nerve medicine. Our clinic acupuncture has showed its advantage in being able to treat these neurological problems. The sensory disturbances can be cleared after only 4- 6 sessions.

6. Slipped discs.
Severe injuries caused by slipped discs need an operation but most cases do not. With the help of an MRI scan we can quickly find out the degree of injury and differentiate it from the other kinds of back pain. In 2011 among 6 slipped disc patients, 5 of them have been successfully treated by us with acupuncture and TUINA (Chinese style physiotherapy).

Summary:

It has been clinically proven that acupuncture can treat many internal and external diseases, in particular chronic ones such as headache, body pain, arthritis, sciatica and so forth. However, as an old form of healing, acupuncture has its limits and needs to progress with the time.
