| Are you looking for independent? |
| Heath, Beauty and Fitness professionals in the local area, then I am Looking is where you should be looking. It was conceived more than two years ago, as Justine was frustrated at the lack of sport and fitness classes, local to her, being advertised online. At the time she was briefly a beauty therapist working from home (between looking after two young children). Justine often found it hard to market and promote her business, cheaply. Eventually, she had a eureka moment and following some lengthy local research found that there were plenty of health, beauty and fitness professionals looking for a new outlet to advertise their business which led to the creation of I am Looking |

Joe’s happy schooldays trigger financial support for Cannon Lane Schools
Joe’s happy schooldays trigger financial support for Cannon Lane Schools. Pinner estate agency Andrew Pearce Property Consultants is to sponsor the main community events organised by The Friends of Cannon Lane School (FCLS), ensuring long -term financial support for the fundraising activities of Cannon Lane First and Middle Schools in Pinner. The agreement was finalised this week between Dr Reena Keeble, headteacher at Cannon Lane First School, and Joe Prosser, residential business manager for Andrew Pearce and a former Cannon Lane pupil. The sponsorship will include funding for a range of activities to help make the events a success, including printing the programmes, erecting up to 30 boards throughout Pinner and donating competition prizes. Dr Keeble said, “We have a wonderful Friends committee and team of supporters who work very hard to organise fundraising events throughout the school year. The generous sponsorship offered by Joe and Andrew will give our community events a more secure footing and takes away the uncertainty of whether we can afford to hold them in future. They are expensive to organise and promote, but now all of the money we raise will go towards enhancing the learning experience for Cannon Lane pupils.” Preparations are being finalised for this year’s Summer Fair on Saturday 11th June and one of the highlights will be a ‘Guess the Mileage’ competition. Proprietor and chartered surveyor Andrew Pearce is going to bring along his vintage 1930s MG, which he has rebuilt himself. “I have such fond memories of my schooldays at Cannon Lane, so I’m thrilled to be able to give something back in this way,” said Joe Prosser. “One of the main reasons that families choose to live in Pinner is because of the quality and reputation of our local schools. Andrew and I are looking forward to getting involved in their community events and we’re hoping the vintage car will help to raise a record amount for Cannon Lane School this year.” The Summer Fair takes place on Saturday 11th June between 12 noon and 3pm. Everybody is welcome.

Pinner & Northwood Business Club welcomed Nick Hurd M.P as their guest speaker
The Rt Hon Nick Hurd MP spoke to the Pinner & Northwood Business Club today Thursday 19 May 2011 at Sazio Pinner. Nick explained to the Business Club that he has three main roles. To help people in his local constituency, including holding surgeries, which involved listening and then helping where he can. Giving the constituency a voice in Parliament. Here he was proud when he was able to take a petition signed by some 80 thousand people to the House of Commons speaking against the proposal to relocate the Mount Vernon Cancer facility elsewhere. He had also ensured that the NHS PCT had belatedly explained to the people of Pinner just what had happened with the dramatic closure of The Village Surgery last year, which left 7000 people initially without a medical practioner. At Westminster where his role is concerned with his colleagues in Law making he assists in making the laws as good as possible. He also has a Ministerial responsibility in the Cabinet Office, as Minister responsible for Civil Society. He is delighted to have this office which supports all not for profit organisations including the Scouts, Guides, etc and thousands of charities. He clearly defined what "The Big Society" is about, to give support and strengthen and gain more involvement from people in the community. He rather amusingly said that when he had attended events with his father the former M.P Douglas Hurd, as a 14 year old, he had decided the last thing he wanted to be was an MP. So he started his career instead in Business, where he spent some 18 years. He had five years working in the commercial world in Brazil and as a result he believes he understands more than some the pressures that small businesses face. Then when he reached 40 he recalled his Father's work and realised how important the role of an MP actually was. He commended the business club for playing its part in the local community. He answered a number of questions afterwards, including one related to the effect of changes in Planning law and said he himself saw the importance of persuading local people to be more involved in the planning process. He responded to Ian Archers invitation to see the community involvement in the Pinner Pantomime evening in November, by asking for the details to be sent to him. The members of the club appeared to very much enjoy his brief but infomative talk. Nick Hurds own website link here
