Heathfield School - Sunday Times Parent Power Ranking
Sunday Times Parent Power ranks Heathfield Junior School, Pinner. Heathfield Junior School was delighted, but not surprised, to be listed once again in the recently published Sunday Times Parent Power listings. Heathfield Junior School is one of the top sixty schools in the country based on Key Stage 2 SATs results in English and Mathematics. SATs are the only externally marked examinations for primary age pupils and, as such, parents can rely on them to indicate the high level of pupil achievement. At Heathfield, girls throughout the junior school, including Year 6 when SATs are taken, follow a broad and balanced curriculum both in lesson time and as extra-curricular activities. They learn all National Curriculum subjects enhanced by learning a range of languages including French, Spanish and Mandarin, reflecting the school’s philosophy of preparing tomorrow’s leaders. Outside the classroom, girls have opportunities to extend their learning through many clubs, sporting fixtures and musical activities. They routinely win all swimming fixtures against other schools and can be seen performing in many local musical events. This is excellent preparation for moving into Heathfield’s Senior school. Carole McCulloch, Head of Heathfield Junior School said ‘Being a pupil at Heathfield is a happy, exciting experience where every girl’s individual talents are known and nurtured, every girl is known to every member of staff and every girl achieves the very best that she can. This result is a testament to our dedication of extending excellence.’ Heathfield School is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, a group of 24 independent schools and two academies throughout England and Wales. The ethos of the GDST is to ensure all pupils reach their full academic potential. GDST students also learn that independence of thought, ambition, hard work and self-discipline are important, but that ties of family, friendship and community need are equally important if they are to become fulfilled and balanced individuals. For further information, please contact Bernadette Ryder Marketing and Communications Officer on 020 8307 5560 Heathfield School website

New Sign for Zizzi
This is how the Victory pub looked before it became part of Zizzi. There is a new planning application to change the sign. The new logo would be painted on the building but would not affect the historical Victory sign or the 1580 lettering displayed above.
| Harrow Suzuki Group played at the Pinner Pantomime Evening | | The Harrow Suzuki Group was delighted to make its musical debut at this year’s Pinner Pantomime Evening in November. This is a group of children from as young as 3 up to the age of 14 who are being taught violin via the Suzuki Method and they meet at the Harrow Arts Centre in Hatch End every other Sunday during term time to play. Their repertoire includes a wide range of music from “Twinkle Twinkle” through to Paganini! The group is raising money for "El Sistema", a Venezuelan music education programme that rescues young people in extremely impoverished circumstances from drugs, crime and abuse and educates them through music. Some of the Suzuki Group children are donating their outgrown violins to El Sistema. To raise funds, the Suzuki Group will be giving away mince pies at the Panto in return for a small donation of 50p towards a raffle that they will hold on December 4th. Usborne Books and Forever Natural Aloe Vera Products have kindly donated some very nice books and products to the raffle prizes. Children from the Harrow Suzuki Group played the violin at this years Pinner Pantomime evening for the first time. Members aged from three to eleven have learned to play the instruments using the Suzuki method, a 20th centuary Japanese method of teaching music, at Harrow Arts Centre in Hatch End. |
