Tiptoe through the tulips & annual Spring Walk | | The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre annual Chenies Spring Walk, and tiptoe through the tulips will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May. This popular circular walk approximately 5-miles long has breath-taking views of the Chess Valley and starts off at Chenies Manor, and heads for Latimer, on to Sarratt and back to Chenies Village. Walkers will mainly use the Chiltern Trail and go through woodlands and across fields. Last year, with sponsorship, the walk raised approximately £3,000 towards the Paul Strickland Scanner Appeal at Mount Vernon Hospital, to buy new scanners used for the early diagnosis of cancer and other serious diseases. Fundraising Manager for the Centre, Rina Rawal commented ‘Many walkers join us year after year and always comment on how much they enjoy the walk and beautiful views, especially the bluebells. We’re very grateful to Chenies Manor House who kindly give all our participants free entry to their famous Tulip Gardens on the day. This really makes the whole event a truly great day out for everyone. Lots of families who join us bring picnics, whilst others make pit stops at the pubs enroute. We’re looking forward to a successful event and hope to see lots of walkers taking part. This year we plan to obtain a new PET/CT scanner and sponsorship raised will go towards this appeal.’ To take part contact the Appeals Office at Paul Strickland Scanner Centre on 01923 844290 or email appeals@stricklandscanner.org.uk. Entry fee per person in advance £6 and £7 on the day, with under 10’s free. The walk has three shortcuts and is unsuitable for pushchairs. Organisers highly recommended suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. Visit www.stricklandscanner.org.uk for more details (registered charity 298867). Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is an independent medical charity providing leading edge scanning services for the early diagnosis of cancer and other serious diseases. The charity needs upwards of £1m a year to fund new scanners, giving patients the best opportunity of a healthier future. |

Wheelbarrow race update
Paul Thompson member Pinner Real Ale Tasting Society repored that the wheelbarrow race started exactly at 3 o'clock, and all went according to plan, with no accidents or hitches. The two leading teams were neck and neck up the High Street, but the Queen's Head team managed to get to the War Memorial ramp just ahead of the Pinner Rugby Club, who then went the wrong way! They managed to recover, and both teams ended up being awarded joint winners (see below), for one team managed to dribble some of their beer, and received a yellow card by the Stewards!! QUEEN'S HEAD team Ben Miles and Elliott Jackson PINNER RUGBY CLUB team Samuel Markham and Aaron Nicholas Full picture report here
